The black bear was discovered by local people and reported to the Lao Cai provincial government.
Christmas black bears are being raised illegally in Bao Thang, Lao Cai.
After being transferred by the Forest Protection Department to the University of Natural Sciences for assessment, the results confirmed that it was a male black bear.
At 11pm on December 20, the black bear arrived at the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center, Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc.
To ensure the bear’s health and safety, the Lao Cai Forest Protection Department, Bao Thang District Police and Animals Asia took the bear to the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center in Tam Dao National Park, Vinh Phuc province on the night of December 20.
The bear is clinically examined and quarantined for 30 days to ensure disease safety and health.
Chief representative of Animals Asia in Vietnam, Ms. Heidi Quine appreciated the coordination and timely action of the Lao Cai provincial government to save bears.
